Bank Holiday Blues will hit the right notes

Local musicians Dischord Blues Band are performing this August at Aldridge Social Club because they have missed music-making over the last couple of years. The gig starts at 8pm on Saturday 28th August, just as the Bank Holiday weekend warms up.

The band's last gig, in February 2019 just before lockdown, was a fundraiser for local school students planning a trip abroad. And since then everything has been very different. Andrew and Matt, the father and son team who play piano and sax, were keen to point out the safety of the venue.

"It's basically a large room with decent ventilation and plenty of space, so we'll just set up at one end and make chilled music for an evening for whoever turns up. The club has been brilliant about covid-security and we trust them to manage things well. It'll be a very relaxed gig and a great way for us as a band to spend time over the Bank Holiday weekend doing what we love."

The duo are joined by local dummer Dave and The Professor, a well regarded electric guitarist from Burntwood. Being the first gig in a while, Discord have also put the word out that special guests would be welcome to sit in and join them for a few numbers or even a whole set.

"Music isn't really music until it's shared and heard." says Andrew, "And although frankly that sounds a bit Spinal Tap, it's true. I hope a couple of our mates will be able to join us. We were formed by accident, we are never rehearsed, but always fun and funky. Why not join us for the evening?"
