On Sunday 16 April, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Walsall hosted the 'Big Iftar' welcoming those from the local community to open the fast at Baitul Muqeet Mosque in Walsall. The guests were warmly welcomed with tours of the mosque, informative exhibitions and an opportunity to listen to the Holy Quran.

The attendees included the Deputy Mayor, Louise Harrison; the Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands, Simon Foster; friends, colleagues and members of the local community. A fun and interactive quiz was held for the guests with prizes for those paying close attention during the presentation given by the Imam.

One of the hosts commented:

"It is always great to see people coming together in Ramadan. For Muslims it is a month of blessings. It provides us with an opportunity to draw closer to God and earn his love. We were delighted that we could share this evening with our guests and share our sentiments of love of our faith."

On hearing the Adhaan, the Islamic call to prayer, those in attendance opened their fasts and were provided with an opportunity to see how Muslims prayed. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by the hosts and guests alike.
