Household Rubbish

Your grey bin should be filled with normal domestic waste, anything that cannot be collected in kerbside recycling (green bin) or garden waste collection (brown bin) with a few exceptions.

What shouldn't you put in your grey bin?

  • If you have a brown bin for garden waste, do not put garden waste in your grey bin.
  • No recyclable waste, as this should go in your recycle bin.
  • Rubble, plaster, general builder's waste, please dispose of at the tip
  • Cans of paint or electrical items, please dispose of at the tip

Recycling

Your green recycling bin will be emptied every 2 weeks. This bin should be filled with recyclable items.

What can you recycle in your green bin?

  • Plastic bottles and tubs (emptied and rinsed)
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Food and drinks cans (emptied and rinsed)
  • Cardboard (clean)
  • Glass bottles and jars (emptied and rinsed

What can't you recycle in your green bin?

  • No Black bags
  • No Textiles ( clothing and bedding)
  • No Food waste
  • No Polystyrene
  • No Electrical items
  • No Nappies or hygiene products
  • No Garden waste

Garden Waste

Garden waste calendars are currently being distributed to households across the borough. The calendar will show you all of your scheduled garden waste collections for the year. If you have not received your garden waste calendar by 22 March 2019 please contact Walsall Council. Collections in the borough will start on Monday 1 April and end on Friday 22 November 2019. Your brown bin will be emptied on a different day and week to your grey and green bins.

  • Bush clippings
  • Old plants
  • Leaves collected from the garden and green frontages

What can't you put in your garden waste bin?

  • Bin liners and plastic bags
  • Metal
  • Animal waste
  • Large amounts of soil, sawdust, sand
  • Fencing
  • Vacuum cleaner dust 
  • Cooking oils
  • Garden chemicals
  • Newspaper, glass or cans
  • Leaves collected from the street that may contain litter, grit, road salt etc
