October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign which aims to increase the awareness of the disease to ensure people have the right information to be able to detect the disease in its early stages.

Breast cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in the UK alone. Every year nearly 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, that's the equivalent to one person every 10 minutes. It is estimated that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

Those are some scary statistics.

There are some great opportunities for you to raise money which will support breast cancer research, and other charities that provide a safe place for those who are facing breast cancer.

Coppafeel are on a mission to stamp out late detection of breast cancer by ensuring that the signs and symptoms of breast cancer are common knowledge. Coppafeel organise both charity running and cycling events around the UK, why not set yourself a challenge?

Local charities such as Walsall Breast Cancer Support Group (WBCSHG) use their funds to help and support locals as they cope with the diagnosis of breast cancer.

With monthly meetings, WBCSHG provides the opportunity for those with breast cancer to talk about any worries, problems and also a place to relax and ease their mind.

Whether you want to cycle around Walsall, run a charity race or just donate without getting physical, WBCSHG accept donations from their JustGiving page here which goes towards keeping the group running and providing support to those who need it.
