Michael Carter is hosting a charity garden opening at his home at 25 Wolverhampton Road, Bloxwich, WS3 2HB. The event will take place on Sunday 4 August from 11am-3pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend and entry is £3 on the gate. There will also be light refreshments available including tea, coffee, soft drinks, cake and biscuits.

All proceeds from the event will be split between two charities: Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s Well Wishers and Lymphoma Action.

The 73-year-old grandfather said: “This isn’t my first time of doing a garden opening, I’ve opened it twice before for the last two years as part of the National Garden Scheme which sees privately owned gardens open on selected dates to the public for charity.

“I really enjoy doing it. Our garden has lots of different features such as a pond, two lawns, two stone circles with seating, a gothic folly and a Japanese garden with a water feature. I also have raised vegetable beds as I like gardening and growing my own food.”

Michael, a former Porter at the Trust added: “I wanted to do this because I like supporting charities and to be able to fundraise in a way that combines my own personal hobbies and interests makes it even more rewarding for me.

“I am very proud of my garden and I hope that everyone who attends enjoys themselves and that we can raise a lot of money for Well Wishers so that they can continue with the great work they do.”

Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager said: “We are so grateful to Michael for hosting this event and raising money for Well Wishers.

“The money that will be raised will help us to buy things over and above what the NHS is able to provide which will help us to give the best experience possible for our patients and their families.”
