Baba Balak Nath mandir, Caldmore were honoured to have The High Sheriff, Doug Wright MBE DL, to join in this sacred celebration.
He said, "I was warmly welcomed by Balbir Seimar BEM and the entire community at the Chet Chaala Mela on Sunday at Baba Balak Nath Mandir and it was truly a joy to connect with so many wonderful people. The energy and spirit of the event were absolutely incredible!
A special highlight for me was the opportunity to do darshan from the highest point of the Mandir. It was a beautiful and humbling experience that I will cherish.
The contributions of Baba Balak Nath Mandir to the West Midlands community are commendable. As a cultural and spiritual hub, it plays a vital role in preserving traditions and fostering a strong sense of belonging among community members. The events and festivals organised here create a vibrant atmosphere that truly brings everyone together.
Thank you to everyone who made this celebration so special!"
This is the first and only temple outside of India to be inaugurated by the head priest of the main shrine temple in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Think of the significance of that moment, on the 18th of December, 1983, when Mahant Shri Shri 1008 Shiv Giri Ji of Guffa Baba Balak Nath in India bestowed his blessings upon this very ground. It was a bridge built across oceans, a connection forged between continents, bringing the sacred traditions of Himachal Pradesh to the heart of the West Midlands.
For 41 years, this Chet Chaala Mela has drawn people from every corner of the United Kingdom, from the rolling hills of Scotland to the bustling cities of England, and even from across the continent of Europe. They come to partake in this auspicious event, to experience the vibrant tapestry of culture, faith, and community that defines this celebration.
The sheer scale of this gathering speaks volumes about the enduring power of devotion and the unifying spirit of this Mandir. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of countless individuals, and especially to the tireless efforts of Mahant Shri Jaspal Bhatti Ji and Mata Ji Dalvir Bhatti ji and all the volunteer, who have played an instrumental role in nurturing and sustaining this community.
Balbir said, “To be invited to share in this cultural and vibrant event is truly an honour. The sights, the sounds, the shared sense of belonging – it’s a privilege to witness the living legacy of a tradition that has travelled thousands of miles and found a home in Walsall. The dedication and passion of Mahant Shri Jaspal Bhatti ji and Mata Ji Dalvir Bhatti along with the community have created a sanctuary, a place where faith and community flourish.
Thank you for making this remarkable event possible. Thank you for sharing the rich heritage of Sidh Shri Baba Balak Nath Ji with the world.”
