Acting on behalf of the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Midlands, property agents have secured a deal that will see Willenhall Police Station transformed into new apartments.
Located on John Street in Willenhall, less than five miles from Walsall town centre, Willenhall Police Station has been sold to Young Properties for a figure in excess of the asking price.
Young Properties now plans to refurbish the station and transform the building into 19 contemporary, one and two bedroom apartments, alongside a private, communal garden for new residents. The plans include affordable rental options.
Martin Cook, director at KWB, said: “Willenhall Police Station is ideal for residential development and, as such, we’re delighted to have secured a deal with Young Properties that will see much-needed new homes delivered in the local area.
“Locations across the West Midlands, including the Walsall area, continue to offer good investment opportunities, with strong demand for high quality, residential sites.”
The 0.34 acre former police station site consists of a 13,413 sq ft, two, and in some parts three storey, former police station, alongside an enclosed yard and car parking.
The new homes will be ideally situated within walking distance of a range of community and social facilities, including bus stops, supermarkets and a very wide range of restaurants.
KWB has seen great success with marketing properties across the region on behalf of West Midlands Police, having previously agreed deals for Shirley Police Station, Kingstanding Police Station, Brownhills Police Station and Walsall Police Station and contracts recently exchanged on Ladywood and Sutton Coldfield stations.
KWB offers a unique body of office and industrial property services and expertise, as well as the management of mixed-use schemes and residential blocks, to occupiers and property owners. It is the leading independent firm of commercial property consultants for offices and industrial units in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
