Walsall competed really well at The Valley on Easter Monday, not letting table-topping Charlton Athletic walk all over them and the fact that Walsall only lost 0-1 against a team too good for this division. Danny N'Guessan got the only goal in the first half. Alex Nicholls went on two very good runs in the first half which startled the home side. The first produced a terrific save fron Hamer who just managed to fingertip the ball away for a corner. The second saw him beat a couple of men and whip over a ball which Jon Macken just failed to reach.
The second half saw Walsall come into the game even more and launch a few attacks and won several corners. As hard as they pressed they couldn't force a goal but the players got a good reception from the Walsall supporters present. Some results went in Walsall's favour and everything now depends on the outcome of Saturday's home game against Tranmere Rovers.
