My name is Dan Oram, an author and poet from the fair town of Walsall. My first book, a novella called ‘Confessions of a Renfield’ and it will be released on the 20th July 2019. Confessions of a Renfield is about a guy named Jimmy. Now, Jimmy’s life is fairly normal, except for Emily. They share a kind of on-off relationship. Sometimes she’s around, sometimes she’s away, but he loves her in his own way. The problem is, one day, she’s going to kill him. You see, Emily is a Vampire. Jimmy is one of her Renfields. Jimmy’s life is turned upside down, when a vicious hunter, well known for sadistic acts of torture, sets his sights on the one person he really cares for. Now he must confront his demons, both inner and outer in a quest to save the love of his life.
As well fiction, I am also active in Walsall’s flourishing poetry scene. I regularly attend events such as O&O on the mic and Yes We Cant. I recently particiapated in Freeverse, a poetry and spoken word event which took place in Brownhills, which brought together poets from across the Black Country and beyond.
