Walsall took the lead against Sheffield Wednesday at the Banks's Stadium with a fine drive from Jon Macken after 10 minutes. It was the striker's 9th goal of the season and if only he would have been as prolific all season than he has in recent weeks Walsall would be a few places higher in the league.
The Owls got back on level terms after 24 minutes though danger man Ian Mellor. Full back Lewis Buxton hit a fierce low drive which Jimmy Walker got a hand to but the alert Mellor notched his 18th of the season to the delight of the 2,000 plus away fans at that end of the stadium.
Walsall did have a few second half chances and Jordon Cook fired one just over. Wednesday should have won the game on 71 minutes when Gary Madine somehow missed a header three yards out. Thankfully for The Saddlers most of the results around them went their way but again failed to claim all three points and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
