While it has continued to rise nationally, Walsall has bucked the unemployment trend as its numbers have fell to 2.7%.
After recent national figures have shown that unemployment in Britain was on the rise, Walsall and the rest of the West Midlands area have continued to prosper on the job front. As each area reported significant decreases in their numbers of unemployment.
To add to the good news these figures also showed that pay rises continued to accelerate, with average weekly earnings up by 3.2 per cent year-on-year in the three months to May, up from 2.7 per cent in the three months to April.
This is obviously great news for the area as continued investment and jobs are only sure to follow.
