Walsall found themselves two goals down with a man sent off at Huddersfield Town but staged a remarkable second half fightback which saw Saddlers take the lead only to be denied an unlikely victory by two late goals. Darren Byfield had an early header which struck the bar. Walsall were really up against it after captain Mark Hughes was sent off on 20 mins. Town scored from the penalty spot and Chris Hutchings sacrificed Steve Jones for Clayton Mc Donald to take Hughes's place in the back four. On the stroke of half time Walsall went further behind and at half time it seemed a question of just how many the Terriors would score.
Alex Nicholls replaced an injured Byfield and on 63 minutes Troy Deeney pulled a goal back for Saddlers. Seven minutes the same player scored from a tight angle to make it game on. Alex Nicholls then fired Walsall into an amazing 3-2 lead to send the 123 travelling Saddlers fans wild. However it couldn't last and Huddersfield came storming back with goals in the 90th and 95th minutes. An amazing second half and Walsall fans were really pleased with that performance. The result may have been disappointing but it was great to see such spirit.
