I do feel very strongly about this subject...
I try to buy my fresh vegetables, fruit, fish and other groceries from our local Walsall markets whenever possible. I find the quality of the veg etc excellent of course but more importantly, I enjoy the interaction with the market traders! Having a chat while you buy your veg is so pleasant and civilised! Most of the market traders are such a friendly bunch of people, nothing is too much trouble for them, they give excellent service and always with a smile!
I also think our markets need to be promoted and better supported by us consumers. They represent a life which is fast disappearing. It's so sad. We all moan about the hectic pace of life now but what are we doing about it? Visiting one of our great markets once a week to get fresh fruit, veg, fish etc will be an enjoyable experience. It's also good exercise walking around in the fresh air!
That's my opinion, what do you think? Am I the only one who thinks our markets should get more support from us consumers?
