Walsall came back from the dead on Saturday against Crawley turning what looked like a certain 0-2 defeat into a very creditable 2-2 draw with two very late goals in the 90th and 94th minutes when it looked very much like defeat at the Stadium. It was always going to be hard going against a very well organised Crawley side who were so solid and hard to break down and chances for Walsall were so limited at times.
After a stalemate first half in which both keepers had so little to do, Jamie Paterson struck a shot against the post in the second half but the ball went back into play. The visitors broke the deadlock with a goal from Proctor in the 70th minute and when Hayes doubled their lead soon after it looked like that would be the final score but to their credit Walsall kept plugging away and as the 90th minute approached, Jamie Paterson had better luck this time with a deflected shot which flew into the net. In the 4th minute of time added on Walsall's comeback was complete when Will Grigg notched home his 19th of the season.
