How do I know what tyre size to order, when ordering new tyres?

When ordering tyres your local tyre supplier will ask you for your tyre size – unfortunately it’s no good knowing what make and model of car you have as manufacturers sometimes fit different wheels and alloys to the car which in turn makes the tyre size different.

To read your tyre size you need to look at the side wall of the tyre and it should have written on there something like this:

205/55/16/R91W

This equates to:

205 = This is the width of the tyre in millimetres

55 = This is the Profile of the tyre. The height of the tyre sidewall as a percentage of the width.

16 = This is the wheel size – the diameter of the tyres inner rim, in inches

R = Radial (This is not needed when ordering tyres)

91 = Load rating. This indicates the maximum load at maximum speed for the tyre

W = Speed rating. This indicates the speed for the tyre at full load.

If you notice that you need new tyres for your car or caravan give etyres a call on 0121 673 1804.
