Samuel Canlett a 12 year old boy formerly of Alumwell School won the First News/Stabilo journalist of the year competition 2019 !! His news article can be sourced via the First News website: live.firstnews.co.uk, win section, more prizes , press 'view more on the Stabilo young journalist of the year competition'. His prize was £1000 worth of Stabilo stationary for his classmates. He wrote on WASUP (World Against Single Use Plastic) project founded by Professor Gatrad OBE DL. First News is a National newspaper for children (ages 7-12). Samuel continues to show an avid interest in the WASUP project and is delighted to have been able to spread the news on such an important and now a very topical issue. Alumwell Infant School regularly subscribe to the First News newspaper and Samuel was previously a pupil at the school- credit to Mrs Harper the Headmistress who also supported Samuel with communications about the WASUP schools event in the Summer to assist with his article.
