Local arts collective Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists have been keeping busy in this most topsy-turvy of years. They moved their regular poetry events online way back in March, and took to Zoom through the summer to run a series of poetry workshops guiding people through an introduction to poetry. Add in a couple of online poetry slams for literature festivals through the autumn, as well as running poetry workshops for the CWU, and it’s clear they’ve been doing what they can to ensure poetry continues to enable people to find their voice, express themselves and thrive.
In the past week, Emma Purshouse and Steve Pottinger each had two poems included in the Bread & Roses ‘Handbook for 2021’, published by Culture Matters and Riptide Journal, while fellow pandemonialist Dave Pitt took part in TedX Wolverhampton, and Steve has just taken part in another online gig in Dubai.
At the end of this month, they’ll be organising the Shrewsbury Literature Festival poetry slam, and we have it on good authority that their December Yes We Cant promises to be something very special…. So put Sunday December 6th in your diaries, and watch this space for more details!
