The highly anticipated album "Non-Enslaved Minds" by Max Ravenhill is set to enchant audiences with it`s original sitar composition, crafted for Ian Henery`s play "Georgina and the Dragon".
This unique production, which celebrates diversity, anti-racism and female empowerment, will be performed at the Walsall Maker Fest on 7th September 2024 at 3pm in the Global Storytelling Tent on The Bridge.
"Georgina and the Dragon" is an inspiring tale of female empowerment where Georgina fights to overcome a dragon that symbolises outdated beliefs such as sexism and racism. The play, produced and directed by Laura Liptrot, is supported by Black Country Stand Up To Racism, the Ming Moon Restaurant, Poets Against Racism, AccessAbility Arts, Walsall Black Sisters Collective and Communities Against Racism Enterprise.
Ian Henery, a renowned broadcaster, poet and playwright, commissioned Max to compose sitar-based music for the play. The album, "Non-Enslaved Minds", features these compositions along with additional tracks offering a rich, instrumental experience. Max`s music draws inspiration from Ravi Shankar`s "Transmigration Macabre", the soundtrack to the British film "Viola", which initially sparked his interest in the sitar.
"I aimed to create a musical experience that not only enhances the storytelling but also resonates deeply with the themes of diversity and empowerment" said Max. "The sitar`s expressive sound perfectly complements Georgina`s journey and the play`s powerful message".
The album "Non-Enslaved Minds" will be available on all major digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon and will be released on 8th September 2024. In addition to his work on the album Max is part of the band Upstart Boulevard and also performs solo sets of original songs and covers.
