The polymer note is the first British banknote with tactile information for blind and partially sighted people – and features author Jane Austen.
It is expected that the new style polymer notes will last for around 5 years, rather than the average for paper notes which is 2 years.
The paper £10 note will be taken out of circulation in the first half of next year and we can expect to see a new polymer £20 note in 2020.
The old style £1 coin will cease to be legal tender from 15th October 2017 so make sure you have all yours exchanged at a bank by this date.
