Walsall warmly welcomed their new Mayor this week.
Councillor Marco Longhi was sworn in on Monday evening as the borough's 640th Mayor and has now taken over on ceremonial duties for 2017/18 having spent a year a deputy Mayor. He took over from Councillor Kath Phillips who was a great ambassador for the town and had a very successful year in office raising £25K for her chosen charity.
The life of a Mayor is not new to Councillor Longhi as his grandfather, Wilfred Clarke was Mayor of Walsall 1978/1979.
His chosen charity for the year will be WPH Counselling, a Walsall-based service. Councillor Longhi represents the Pelsall Ward and has the experience of 18 years public service to the Borough.
Councillor Paul Bott was sworn in as Deputy Mayor.
We wish Councillor Longhi and Councillor Bott every success for the coming year and the Walsall Business Community look forward to working with them.
