Walsall Council have revealed that parking meters are to be installed in the centre of Walsall over the next month.
The aim is to ease congestion and traffic in the centre, in addition to raising income for the council.
There will be approximately fifty parking meters put in place. These will limit maximum parking time to two hours and will charge £1.20 per hour, in increments of ten minutes.
The introduction of such meters will mean that free parking in the town centre may become a thing of the past, resulting in the proposition being met with some controversy. Some of the locations thought to be affected include Stafford Street and Station Street, however the exact streets where parking meters will be introduced can be obtained from Walsall Council.
Please feel free to leave your comments on whether you think more parking meters in Walsall town centre are a good idea.
