New figures have revealed an increase of shoppers visiting Walsall's Old Square Shopping Centre.

An increase of almost a quarter has been calculated with footfall going up from 40,775 visitors in the first week of August 2014 to 47,345 for the same period this year!

They have also established this to be an increase of 20 per cent in the week and up to 25 per cent on Sundays.

This increase of visitors has most definitely been impacted on my the new primark which opened its doors back in early August.

It was always going to be a popular edition as its first day open on August 6th saw hundreds of people queuing to be one of the first through its doors.

Walsall Councillor Adrian Andrew, who is also portfolio holder for economy and environment said

"The results are great for traders and shopkeepers and show it was the right thing for the council to do to step in and build the new development to deliver Primark and soon Co-op, despite the opposition from some."
