Make sure to check out ‘The Cutting Edge’ youth production event

On Friday 12th July a project called ‘At the cutting edge’ is holding a special production event to showcase the skills and talents of young people in Walsall in facing up to concerns around the prevalence of knife crimes across the borough.

This event is part of a wider project attempting to:

-          - Reduce the number of incidents of knives being carried to school

-         - Reduce the number of injuries received from use of knives

-         - Change perceptions about personal safety and the need to carry a knife

The project which is being led by One Walsall in partnership with several local organisations has agreed a project plan which includes carrying out a survey across all schools in the borough, encouraging mass participation in staging a musical in December 2019 and a process for collating stories, information and other material to be included in an exhibition in 2020.

The production event will announce these opportunities for involvement in more detail and encourage many young people to sign up to participate. There will also be the opportunity to participate in a photography workshop programme as well as martial arts self- defence sessions.
