Poetry night Yes We Cant will continue to build on its reputation for bringing top-notch performace poets to Walsall from round the UK when Jim Higo headlines at the Pretty Bricks in Walsall on Sunday October 6th. One of the leading lights in Hull’s very active poetry scene, Jim got a well-deserved five-star review from his appearance at Edinburgh Fringe. Expect caustic humour and side-splitting rants.
The ‘Alf Ender slot will be filled by local poet Scarlett Ward, whose debut volume ‘Ache’ was published by Verve Poetry Press last year to excellent reviews. Copies will be available on the night. Entry to the event is – as always – free, although the organisers do ask for donations when you leave so they can pay the headline act. Doors are at 7pm, and open mic spots are available. Be sure to arrive early if you want one!
