“Lakeside Live”, Walsall Arboretum Bank Holiday Monday 29 August 2022.
Hunkypunk Promotions, working with Walsall Council Healthy Spaces brough the music event to Walsall Arboretum for the third time.
This year’s popular annual free Arboretum music festival drew on the strength of previous years and continued the development of this popular event for local bands, musicians and poets.
Hundreds turned out to see the likes of Ancient Champion, Living Secret and Funk n Disorderly play the main bandstand stage.
On the acoustic stage at the visitor’s centre Seed Room, local legend AayushiJain hit the high notes and a variety of other acoustic acts including JessaiDessai, Lichfield Ukulele Massive and Poets Against Racism performed to a crowd of onlookers. This was the first time for a second stage at the event and heralds the planned expansion of Lakeside to become a rival to other midlands music festivals.
DJ’s from local pub the Katz span tunes between acts and refreshments were on hand from Simmers Caribbean Food, Vegan Make it and local real ale specialist pub the Fountain.
Event organiser Adrian Shaw, who was featured that morning on Molly Green’s Radio WM radio showsaid “We were delighted with the bands and acts playing at Lakeside Live this year, the fantastic turnout and success of the quality food and drink concessions. Next year we will be back for an even bigger show with the support of the local community, businesses and Healthy Space”.
Adrian, who plays drums with both Ancient Champion and Living Secret is a local lawyer and live music promotor, has organised the last two Lakeside Events following the retirement of his long time musical collaborator, Sean Flood, who now lives in Donegal.
