Leanne Cooper is a Poet, and Author from the West Midlands, who since her debut in 2017, has gone on to become a rising star of the local poetry scene. She is a regular at open mics and events, having performed across the Midlands and Stafford, including the Wolverhampton Literary Festival as part of Poets Against Racism.

Leanne has since been published both online, and in print for various anthologies, and recently came 2nd place in the TDM Christmas Terror poetry contest, as well as being shortlisted for the position of Wolverhampton Poet Laureate.  For this year’s Wolverhampton Literary Festival , Leanne has been part of the Overhear poetry project; writing and recording a poem for Newhampton Arts Centre, which can be collected by visiting the venue, and listened to via the Overhear app.

Leanne’s first poetry collection, ‘Awake at 3 AM’, was published in March 2018. The collection is an exploration of the different types of relationships we experience; starting out with first love, followed by the maternal relationship between a mother and her children, and concluding with the feelings experienced during the break down of a romantic partnership.

On 1st February 2020, Leanne released her second poetry collection ‘All For You’. The idea for this collection was that it would only ever be a present for her partner, Anthony, and was never intended to be released. It was decided that the manuscript would make for a unique collection of love poetry, so was re-worked to take out more personal details. ‘All For You’ is a testament to true love, and finally finding your soul mate. It is perfect for all of the hopeless romantics out there. Both collections are available on Amazon, and signed copies can be purchased by contacting Leanne.

For the first ever Stafford Literature Festival taking place in April,  Leanne will not only be performing, but will also be representing the Lost Haiku project. Haikus will be hidden around the area for people to find, and also handed out to be “lost” by festival goers, either on the day, or to take home to lose another day. Leanne will be talking about the project and explaining how it works.
