Walsall wasted a golden chance to record a win at MK Dons by conceding a needless penalty after taking the lead. Jimmy Walker was called into early action  by making saves in the first and fourth minutes. Emmanuel Ledesma produced Saddlers first scoring opportunity in the 14th minute making an opening for himself but the shot lacked pace.

On 20 minutes Walsall won their first corner when Marc Laird  tested the keeper. Marc  Antoine Gbarssin then had a shot on target before the visitors took the lead on 28 minutes. Julian Gray found Ledesma who in turn found Darren Byfield. His shot was saved only for Matt Richards to tap home.

Walsall continued to plug away and just past the half hour mark Gray got in a header but it lacked power. The second half started lively with both sides looking to push forward. Four minutes after the re-start all Walsall's hard work was undone when Manny Smith brought down Luke Chadwick in the box and Peter Leven converted the penalty.

Thereafter both teams continued to carve out chances and for the neutral fan it would have been a good game to watch but for the Saddlers fans present- an impressive 728 of them- it was a case of a single point obtained when really all three were needed.
