Willenhall Lock Stock is an annual music festival serving the community of Willenhall . Almost all of the performers are local to the town and attracts over 3000 music fans from 20-90 years old.
It`s the biggest community event in Willenhall`s history where all of the profits are ploughed back into the community. It`s curated by Nigel Dutton, a local man and supported by a team of fabulous, committed, hard working volunteers and local businesses.
"Willenhall Lock stock Music Festival is run for the community of Willenhall by the community" said Nigel Dutton. "It is a not for profit organisation that aims to bring affordable entertainment into the Memorial Park for all to enjoy . Over 20 acts perform on 3 stages and 2 arenas . The acts appear for free and we aim to break even or make a small profit to reinvest back into the town of Willenhall . Historically the festival has been underwritten by a few philanthropic locals , a reasonable ticket price and sponsorship . It caters for a variety of age groups and tastes but the big arena is a melting pop of friends neighbours and community groups all having a great day out and the music is almost secondary to the atmosphere. Keeping everyone safe this year is our top priority as well as providing extra grand stand seating in both arenas and extra toilet and entrance testing . The festival is a great shop window for all the bands and artists who pick up work from their performances ."
The profits from this annual festival go back into supporting the local community which has been hit hard by the decline in British manufacturing over the past 40 years. Willenhall is famous for its lock industry - hence the name.
"By supporting Willenhall Lock Stock you are aligning with the towns favorite and most popular out door event" said Nigel Dutton. "The Memorial Park is one of the best locations in the Black Country for community events of size and now 100 years old it continues to be a fantastic treasure in the heart of an industrial heartland . The community of Willenhall often get overlooked and feel ignored , this festival brings a touch of Glastonbury to the town at an affordable price. The festival also caters for new musicians giving them a unique platform to perform to their friends relatives fans and prospective venues. We also encourage and train young aspiring event managers to volunteer and take part in running a big event with the intention of handing over the management of Lock Stock in the coming years to a younger team."
