Walsall slipped to their second home defeat in a week at the Banks's Stadium to Carlisle United. Again the same scoreline (1-2) and again goalkeeping mistakes which means the Saddlers have already lost three games on home soil in their opening six league games. Its a pity the home form is so unreliable as the home form is pretty good with three wins. Manager Dean Smith has promised a quick response from this latest Bescot defeat and it will be interesting to see what happens against Port Vale tonight.
Once again Walsall were unchanged and didn't start as flowing as usual however on 19 minutes there was hope when they scored a well worked team goal. Will Grigg found Flo Cuvelier. A fine dummy by George Bowerman fooled the Carlisle defence allowing Jamie Patterson to sweep home. Joe Garner, however, drew the visitors level with a fine finish. The Cumbrians also struck a post before late in the game they got their winner thanks to a combination of poor play from Dean Holden and Karl Darlow. Lian Noble was allowed to fire home with ease to send the Walsall supporters home again asking questions.
