Walsall came within a whisker of knocking Exeter City out of the FA Cup at the first atempt on Saturday but were pegged back by a 94th minute goal to require a replay back at the Banks's Stadium. Walsall have this very annoying habit of taking the lead in games but don't hang on to it. This was another example of not concentrating from the first whistle to the last.
The Saddlers got off to a good start taking the lead on 21 minutes through on loan midfielder Mark Wilson from a free kick. It was hoped that Walsall would continue to press in the second half but went into their shell and only had a further couple of shots on target.
David Groff contined his good work between the posts and made a few good saves to deny the home side. Just when it looked like Walsall had done enough David Noble scored from some distance to rob The Saddlers of the win However if the referee would have spotted the foul on Alex Nicholls towards the end of normal time it may have been another story.
