If you’ve missed Spoke in the Lamp recently it’s because there wasn’t one in April (and there won’t be one in June) but on the last day in May you are blessed with the opportunity to be at bustling Brownhills’ leading poetry event. Whoop-whoop!

HEADLINER: Gary Carr
Gary Carr is based in Burton-on-Trent and has been a writer and poet for more than twenty years, having more than sixty poems and articles published in literary magazines, anthologies and specialist publications on computing, table tennis and writing.
Over that period he has also edited two anthologies and “off-centre” arts magazine, helped to run Runaway Writers and worked –as Spoken Worlds – to put on poetry performances and Open Mic nights; he has organised writers’ events, read at open mics from Cornwall to County Durham (plus Edinburgh Free Fringe), and in 2022 had his first collection “In a Town” published by Dream Well.
In his free time he plays Table Tennis (the impossible sport), wrangles computers, nerds out on science/ history/ sci-fi, and occasionally still DJs for parties.
VENU:
Brownhills Community Centre’s “The Lamp” theatre space has seating at tables, cabaret style, for us, with *Free* self-serve teas/coffees!
