Walsall travelled to League Two side Dagenham and Redbridge hoping to forget their relegation battle and progress safely to round three of the FA cup but it was never going to be easy against the club in 91st place in English football. The first half performance though was as poor as anything the long suffering fans have witnesses in the last three years and had to be content with a 1-1 draw and a replay with a home tie against Millwall as a reward should they prosper.
Walsall did improve, slightly, in the second half and took the lead when substitute Claude Gnakpa headed home, his first goal for the club. However just four minutes later Daggers were back in it when the Walsall defence backed off and Jon Nurse curled in a shot giving Jimmy Walker no chance. In the dying minutes substitute Ryan Jarvis was sent off for use of the elbow. Not the best of days for the 259 Saddlers fans who went to be entertained and come back with a win.
