Walsall continued their terrible start to the season with another defeat-their 7th in 9 games in all competitions and their 5th consecutive loss at the Banks's Stadium v.Swindon Town. Jon Brain, who had been at fault for several goals this season, including two howlers at the previous game at Rochdale, was actually blameless here and had no chance with either goal. The Saddlers suffered a 1-2 defeat. The annoying thing is that Walsall are only loosing games by the odd goal which is just as well for manager Chris HUtchings. Had he have had a couple of heavy defeats he may have been out of a job by now.
Walsall held out until the 10th minute. David Prutton sent the ball out wide to Alan Sheehan and sent in a firmly hit cross-shot that went in just inside the post with Brain well beaten. Walsall were not downhearted though and seemed determined to to get back in the game. David Davies and Darren Byfield both went close in that first half but went in at half time a goal down.
Brain had to face a one on one with keeper Sean Morrison but saved comfortably enough. On 63 minutes Rueben Reid came on for Paul Marsall and grabbed his third goal in 6 games. It didn't take Swindon to go in the lead again with a goal from Vincent Pericard. Walsall kept plugging away for their second goal but it simply wouldn't happen. Walsall are now 18th and badly need to pick up points.
