This weekend Walsall`s Sparta Krav Maga are running a popular training course called "The Shank Tank".
"It`s a specially constructed building on a former farm in Brownhills" explained instructor Paul O`Connor "which is a great learning exercise and combines high levels of realism. The idea is to raise training standards to a higher level for a workshop to teach students to deal with violent attacks under specialised instruction and in a place of safety".
Trainee instructors and senior students work in a specially designed protective suit called "The Predator Suit". The students defend themselves against attack. The Predator Suit was developed to withstand high levels of strikes to the head and groin. In turn, it gives the student defending themeslves against The Predator Suit the chance to strike back with full force and know that the person inside the suit is safe.
Sparta Krav Maga in Walsall is part of the International Krav Maga Federation. Krav Maga is a self defence system that is for all. It is used worldwide by armies, police and civilians. It is a self defence system that integrates simple and instinctive moves accessible to all.
