After 45 minutes of Walsall's game against Bournemouth at the Banks's Stadium last Saturday it looked as if the team would be recording their first win of the New Year. With them being 2-0 u, playing well and hitting the woodwork it all pointed to a second half of building upon that lead-or at the very least holding on to it-but there again this is Walsall we are talking about here. How many times has this happened now this season?
The long-suffering supporters are fed up with these leads being constantly tossed away. With The Saddlers just one place above the dropzone they simply can't afford to keep doing this. Jon Macken gave Walsall the lead on 16 minutes with a smartly taken goal before Mat Sadler skimmed the bar with a powerful shot. When Andy Butler doubled Walsall's lead it was looking so good.
Lee Beevers gave away a needless penalty in the first period of the second half but still Walsall pressed and created some good chances. Bournemouth introducd substitute Steve Fletcher and in the 93rd minute the veteran striker headed home from close range to break the Walsall players and fans hearts.
