Confident Walsall continued their recent good form following up back to back wins over Wycombe Wanderers and Scunthorpe United with a goal less draw at Preston North End but such was Saddler's fine performance and chances created, they came away from Deepdale thinking they should have walked away with three points not one.
Walsall started off in confident mood and soon had the Preston defence looking a bit shakey as they launched an attack in the very first minute. The first half came to a grinding halt however after 18 minutes when North End's Adam Barton was badly injured going into a 50-50 challenge with Richard Taundry. The lad suffered a broken ankle and leg and the game was held up for ten minutes whilst he received attention.
The home side finished strongly and Walsall keeper David Grof had to make two fine saves in the last minute to deny the Lillywhites a first half lead. Walsall played some really good football in the second half with Jamie Patterson going close. However Walsall's best chance was missed by Florent Cuvelier who only had the keeper to beat but dragged it wide. Substitute Lee Beevers also went close in the final stages but never mind it ensured a third successive clean sheet and another point on the board.
