Caldmore Community Garden is a welcoming community space for everyone. You can grow your own food, learn new skills, share your own knowledge and make new friends. The garden hosts a great range of community groups as well as community events on a regular basis. All activities are free and the garden is as diverse as Caldmore itself – everyone is welcome!
There is a garden with a play area for children and a community house where the groups can meet.
Regular groups include:
Mondays - 10am until 12.30pm - Men’s Shed, a friendly meeting space for men where they can work together on practical projects for the garden. The impressive Tree house in the garden was built by the Men’s shed group but you don’t need any experience to join.
Mondays - 12 until 4pm Board Games Group - everyone is welcome to join this free games group where you can meet new friends and play games of strategy or chance.
Tuesdays - 10am until 12pm – Women’s Tuesdays, a chance to meet up and have a chat over a cuppa and try out some craft activities. You can see examples of artwork produced by the women’s Tuesday group all over the community house and garden.
Wednesdays – 10 am until 12pm – Volunteer Day and a Place of Welcome. Come for a chat and a cup of tea, and help us at the Garden, there’s always something to do! You don’t need any experience and it’s always good to get out in the open and enjoy nature.
Wednesdays - 10am until 12pm – I love to sew - A friendly, fun sewing session where you can bring your own sewing or embroidery project or learn how to use a sewing machine. It's free and all skill levels are welcome. Just come along and join in.
Thursdays - 10.30a.m. until 12.00pm – Caldmore Tots group. Caldmore Tots group is a friendly, free, play group for children up to 5 where parents can meet and have a chat over a coffee while the children take part in creative and sensory activities with lots of outdoor play.
Garden Saturdays – 11a.m. until 2 p.m.
A range of activities for the whole family to enjoy each Saturday – including science Saturdays and nature inspired creative sessions. Please book in advance using the link posted to Facebook.
Open garden events
24 September – 12 p.m. until 4p.m. - Buzz in the Meadow
There’s free entry to our woodland themed day of fun full of family activities. Come and meet our Meadow Sprites, these magical meadow creatures will take over the Garden in a bewitching performance by Curious Cargo theatre group, brought to you in association with Black Country Touring.
The garden will have Fairy Garden arts and crafts and you’ll have a chance to make your own leaf cast with artist sophia moffa from “A Sense of Place” project. There will be hot and cold drinks and home-made cakes for sale at our community cafe. Come dressed up as a woodland creature or a fairy and join in the fun!
1 October 2022 – Batty evening with Brum Bats 6p.m. until 8p.m.
This event is now fully booked but you can contact the Garden to be put onto the waiting list. An exciting evening at the Community Garden with pizza from our wood-fired oven and a talk about all things bats - Bekie from Brum Bats will tell us all about bat life and habits, and we will have a go at using bat detectors to see what bats we have in Caldmore.
15 October 2022 – The Head Gardener 6p.m. until 7p.m.
Brothers Jake and Warren Oldershaw are bringing a delightful theatre show that digs deep into the reasons why we could all do with a bit more horticulture in our lives.
Gardening is good for you!
During each performance the brothers will design, draught and bring to life a unique and beautiful garden; share fascinating stories of different plants and species; tell personal tales of why gardening is so important for mental health, and maybe even throw a few songs into the mix.
This will be a pay as you feel performance in association with Black Country Touring. Advance booking required. Please book using the following link:
