The Circle started off 2020 with a Feedback Evening led by member Dawn Birch-Tutt. Members brought along work that was either complete or still in preparation for constructive criticism from the group. Work ranged from a piece of performance poetry about British Values (complete with PowerPoint images and music), a short story which may now develop into a longer piece, a poem and a short fantasy story. They also had a visit from representatives of UrbanHax who are working on a Creative Community project to demonstrate diversity and inclusivity in the Arts in the Walsall area. Members of the Circle were invited to write a folktale from their culture in whatever genre they wished: short story, poetry, flash fiction etc for inclusion in an anthology to be brought out later in the year.
Next month, Thursday 13th February, the Circle is very excited to have writer and journalist William Gallagher joining them to talk about his work and to run a short workshop on writing dialogue. Visitors are very welcome to come along. Venue is Walsall College Hub (opposite Tesco's), room 210, 7.30 pm. £2.00.
