Walsall kicked off their four game holiday programme with a deserved 2-0 home victory over Carlisle United. As usual it took the Saddlers a little while to settle but took the lead on 14 minutes through Romaine Sawyers. Latching onto a long pass from Paul Downing, he picked his moment to fire his team ahead. There was a blow for the home side when top scorer Craig Westcarr had to limp off five minutes before half time.
In the second half Walsall's Richard O'Donnell beat out a well struck penalty from Lee Miller and just when it seemed the same player would tap in the rebound, he blasted it high up into the stands. Milan Lalkovic then made the game safe for Walsall with a very well taken goal smashing the ball into the net from the edge of the box.
As someone who is passionate about all thats going on in and around Walsall I hope that you find the topics I raise are informative and thought provoking.
