Walsall recorded an emphatic 4-0 win over Coventry City at the Banks's Stadium on Easter Monday to keep alive their promotion hopes alive with a sparkling display. Two goals apiece by Craig Westcarr and Jamie Paterson showd that they are serious about their challenge and on this display it was hard to imagine that they should have lost 1-5 away to the Sky Blues earlier in the season.
The Saddlers took the lead on 33 minutes when Jamie Paterson, a life long Coventry fan, slid the ball home from six yards after beating two men. Walsall doubled their lead on 54 minutes thanks to a Craig Westcarr penalty which he cooly put away. Coventry's Jamie Stewart was sent off for a high foul on Febian Brandy and on 74 minutes Westcarr headed home his second goal. With just three minutes remaining Paterson shot home to send the Walsall supporters home very happy.
