Walsall Black Sisters Collective were honoured to host a cheque presentation ceremony on Monday, April 7th, 2025. We were delighted to welcome local MP Valerie Vaz and Area Councillor Eileen Russell, whose presence underscores the importance of this project for our community.

Today, we unveiled our Vulnerable Women's Project, a three-year initiative supported by The National Lottery Community Fund. This exciting endeavour aims to empower and support disadvantaged women in our community, addressing critical issues such as gender inequalities, that particularly affect BAME women.

A key component of the project will be confidence and self-esteem building workshops, alongside quality-of-life improvement strategies. Participants will have access to information sessions on available support services, as well as opportunities for employment, training, and volunteering. These services are designed to empower women to take control of their lives and future aspirations. The project will help women build stronger social connections and support networks, increase their independence and self-confidence, and develop better coping mechanisms for life's challenges.

This project will also enhance WBSC reputation as a leading organisation in our support for the Black and ethnic minorities community and in particularly women. It will encourage more partnership working in Walsall and the wider West Midlands to help tackle discrimination and health inequalities. The project will also facilitate better access to services by enhancing collaboration with health services, local authority and the NHS ensuring a more integrated approach to addressing the needs of BAME Women, children, families.
