At the beginning of March, local businesswoman and empowerment coach Louise Anne took to the skies in a remarkable act of friendship and support. Louise bravely completed a parachute jump on behalf of Leah Crowfoot, founder of Black Country Money Matters CIC, and raised £480 for Compton Care - a charity that has profoundly impacted Leah’s life.
Originally, Leah was among the first to sign up when Compton Care put out a call for fundraising parachute jumpers. Motivated by personal experience with the hospice, she was determined to give back. However, just before the scheduled jump, Leah faced an unexpected challenge - after enduring 14 years of chronic back pain, she was finally given a date for a long-awaited discectomy. The surgery fell the day before the jump, making it impossible for her to take part. That’s when Louise Anne stepped in.
Louise is no stranger to confronting challenges head-on. In 2022, she completed a firewalk for Black Country Women’s Aid, demonstrating her commitment to pushing past fear and reclaiming her own power, especially to support good causes. When Leah needed someone to take her place, Louise didn’t hesitate.
“Leah and I haven’t known each other for the longest time, but after doing TEDx Wolverhampton together, we’ve become really good friends. When she needed someone to step up, I was more than happy to do it. This experience has been life changing for me, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity. The jump was incredible and there is a feeling of being suspended, the world looking so distant and just the cold wind in your face to let you know you are moving. At that moment I thought about how I had found my new happy place.”

For Leah, Compton Care holds deep personal significance.
“When I got my operation date through I was so disappointed I’d be missing out on this opportunity to support them – but I’m incredibly grateful for the selflessness of Louise Anne. She really stepped up and we have managed to raise £480, beating our target. Compton Care means so much to me as my Nan went into Compton Care and was only supposed to be there for two weeks, but she ended up staying for four. She was there over Mother’s Day, and the team at Compton Care allowed us to take over the day room so we could celebrate together as a family. Family is everything to us, and they understood that. It’s a cause I’m proud to support.”
