Walsall travelled to Crawley hoping to build on the excellent previous performance against Peterborough United. It was not unreasonable to expect another good performance against an ordinary looking side. As it turned out Saddlers could not penetrate the home defence and had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The first half was a non-event and the interval could not come quick enough.
After the break Walsall grew in confidence and gradually got their passing game going. and at least created a few chances. The closest they came to a goal was when Craig Westcarr smacked one against the bar. The same player then blasted one over the top of the stand and Milan Lalkovic was wasteful with one effort he sliced wide. There were a few more half chances to see go begging but it was destined to remain scoreless. For goalkeper Richard O'Donnell it was a plus- another clean sheet his third in a row.
As someone who is passionate about all thats going on in and around Walsall I hope that you find the topics I raise are informative and thought provoking.
