The Macmillan Team at Walsall Healthcare and the Trust’s Well Wishers charity hosted their joint coffee morning along with a tombola today (27 September) at the Manor Hospital. They also had support from Cancer Services and The Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association.

This is the second time the teams have joined forces to raise money for Macmillan and Well Wishers Chemotherapy Fund.

Jodie Stokes, Performance Secretary in Trauma & Orthopaedics and Fundraising Champion, said: “Today is very close to my heart because my husband died of cancer and Macmillan were involved.

“It is the first time I have also brought my daughter Sienna who is 10 to help out with the coffee morning. She was two when her dad died so this makes it even more special.

“To have raised this amount of money feels so overwhelming. People have been so generous in both money, cake donations and support. I hope to be able to continue hosting this in years to come.”

Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager, added: “Today has been a wonderful day raising money for our chemotherapy fund and Macmillan. Thank you to all those who supported and donated cakes for our bake sale and tombola and everyone who bought a cake or raffle ticket – you have made such a difference.”

Since 1990, Coffee Morning has brought together millions of people from across the UK to have fun and raise money for a good cause. It is usually held on the last Friday of September each year.

Donations from thousands of Coffee Mornings, big and small, help raise vital funds to support the three million people in the UK living with cancer, from the moment they are diagnosed, throughout treatment and beyond.

The money raised for the Well Wishers chemotherapy fund will go towards the added extras for the Chemotherapy Unit.
