Walsall slipped to a 1-0 defeat at MKD in what turned out to be a rather dull and drab affair in which the outcome was decided by two decisions by the referee which riled the players, fans and manager Dean Smith alike. Referee Whitestone awarded a free kick for the home side that even home manager Karl Robinson admitted shouldn't have been given and from this MK Dons scored, off a post. Then at the other end Andy Butler had what looked liked a perfectly good goal chalked off. Very Frustrating.
MKD started off the brighter of the two teams and they had one early chance which Powell shot wide. The only threat in the whole half came from Sam Mantom who shot at the keeper. The second half wasn't much better with the two already mentioned incidents the only real action. Walsall used their substitutes, as ever, and finally woke up in the final 10 minutes but it was all too little too late and it really was a match to forget all about.
As someone who is passionate about all thats going on in and around Walsall I hope that you find the topics I raise are informative and thought provoking.
