Walsall faced a daunting trip to Prenton Park, Tranmere, on Tuesday night but surprised the current league leaders and despite the 0-0 scoreline created enough chances in the game to have won comfortably. It was a pleasure to see Walsall create so many chances. The first half alone saw Will Grigg have four or five with Ashley Hemmings and Jamie Paterson also coming close. If only one of those would have gone in! Saddlers were without centre back and captain Andy Butler who was suspended following his five yellow cards of the season but understudy Paul Downing stepped in and formed a useful partnership with Dean Holden. Again Walsall's on loan keeper Aaron Mc Carey did well and gave a good display throughout. Such was Walsall's game plan that hosts Tranmere Rovers were frustrated by Walsall's positivity in going forward and their fans resorted to booing their players at times. So another good display and two games unbeaten. The flip side is thirteen games without a win but that will surely change on Saturday when Hartlepool United are visitors.
