Nearly 200 people from all over the West Midlands attended a WASUP symposium organised by Prof Gatrad founder of WASUP- World Against Single Use Plastic. It was held at the Manor Hospital Walsall. People from industry, businesses, faith groups, Walsall Council and community leaders gathered to consider the way forward on the war on plastic. There were inspiring presentations from Prof Gatrad OBE DL, Richard Gwatkin talked about climate change issues, Charlotte Watkivs on Zero Waste life. There was a triple presentation by Alex Murray of Best of Walsall, Richard Upton and Beth Deeley on Practicalities of litter picking and how schools could get involved with businesses. But the show was stolen by Sam Canlett of Alumwell who presented his essay on WASUP which won him the top prize of £1000 in a National essay competition- he wrote on WASUP.
