A poet from Walsall Wood, Sara Meredith, is due launch her first book.  "I Am The Storm" is the written testimony of her life since losing her son Daniel.  The book is a journey of love, loss and rebirth through the words of a grieving heart.

"The poems within this book are literally my heart in words" she said.

Sara`s previous work includes a 6 week collaboration with Walsall Society of Artists for a poetry and art exhibition at The Crossing St Paul`s in Darwall Street Walsall that was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Walsall.  This was then followed by  a 3 month collaboration at the New Art Gallery with the Walsall Society of Artists.

"In 2022 my world fell apart when I lost my son Daniel to Covid aged only 7" said Sara.   "Nothing in this world made any sense. A year later I faced the ending of a 27-year marriage which led me into a place of true crisis. Everything I thought I had was lost and most of all I had no sense of who I was anymore.

A friend of mine suggested I attended a poetry evening and encouraged me to write and process my heart. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that poetry saved me. I took all my pain and sorrow and self discovery and wrote them into the poems that now form this, my first poetry book. I am so proud of this book and anxious as this book is my heart in written form. Throughout this book you will join me on a journey of grief, awakening and hope."

Sara is a regular on Walsall`s spoken word circuit and has been a headliner at Voices from the Fountain based at The Fountain Inn in Walsall.

Last weekend Sara was invited to represent the Walsall writing community and to read her poetry in front of the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham for the Mid Autumn Festival in the Birmingham Chinese Quarter with the Birmingham Chinatown Business Association.

She is a member of the 1 in 3 Project (It`s Our Right) which works towards realising women`s empowerment and gender equality, protecting the rights of women and improving the lives of women, girls and the LGBTQIA community.  The project is supported by Arts Council England.
