Cheryl began her poetry career in 2020 when her journaling turned into words of wisdom for others. Deep emotions and feelings turned somewhat poetic as she then turned them into her first poetry book.
"After Trauma" is a beautiful poetry collection that explores the raw emotion of trauma, healing and inspiration.
In celebration of National Poetry Day 2024 Cheryl has written a poem called "Finding Home". Inspired by new beginnings and delivering the message of love and hope, Cheryl aims to empower the community through her encouraging words.
Finding Home
How do you know you`re home?
When you`ve spent your days isolated and alone
Cut off from love and trust,
Left wondering when your time will come.
It`s the days that come easy
When it just makes sense;
When the feelings are mutual
And the love is immense.
You know you`ve found your way home
When loneliness and crippling silence is a thing of the past
And the sun in the sky
Is written in your forecast.
The days turn to weeks
And suddenly there`s no reason to look back:
The first time in your life the music
That plays becomes your life`s soundtrack.
