Walsall conductor and arranger Matthew Jones is swelling the ranks of his celebrated choir for Dana and Grimethorpe Colliery Band: A Dana Good Christmas!
He’s fusing the world’s most renowned brass band with a singer whose music transcends pop. The original Derry girl, Dana shot to fame in 1970 as Ireland’s first winner of the Eurovision Song Contest with “All Kinds of Everything”. She went on to score chart hits worldwide with the likes of “Please Tell Him That I Said Hello”, “Fairytale” and “It’s Gonna Be a Cold Cold Christmas”.
Best known for providing the soundtrack to Brassed Off, starring Ewan McGregor, Grimethorpe Colliery Band’s story was the inspiration behind the 1996 BAFTA-winning film. The matinee performance at Town Hall, Birmingham on 22nd December will also feature host and guest singer Bob Brolly. See https://bmusic.co.uk/events/dana-and-grimethorpe-colliery-band
